Tire Pressure Monitoring informs the driver of pressure losses at one or more wheels.

Tire Pressure Monitoring (version DDS)

DDS signifies an indirect system. It has no separate sensors. The system is integrated into the ESP control unit. A loss of pressure alters the circumference of the tire and the corresponding wheel turns faster. The ESP control unit detects the change in wheelspeed by way of the rotational speed sensor signal. If tire pressure drops by 0.5 bar, the system issues a warning to the driver.

Calibration

When

The following procedure applies if the prerequisites are satisfied:

  • message INIT or the message RESET goes out on the display.

How

Without i-Drive

  1. Immediately press the button (1) and keep it pressed for approximately 3 seconds until the message INIT or the message RESET (with a tick in each case) appears in the display.
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Drive the vehicle for a few minutes. Choose a route with as many bends as possible to speed up calibration.
  4. Calibration is completed while driving without feedback.
  5. Switch off engine.
  6. Tire Pressure Monitor DDS is in calibrated status.

With i-Drive

  1. Start the engine but do not drive off.
  2. Press the Menu slector switch in the center console.
  3. Select VEHICLE SETTINGS using the i-Drive button.
  4. To confirm press the i-Drive button.
  5. Select RPA (Run Flat Indicator) using the i-Drive button, confirm it.
  6. Select SET TIRE PRESSURE using the i-Drive button, confirm it.
  7. Select YES using the i-Drive button, confirm it.
  8. Drive the car for a few minutes. Choose a route with as many bends as possible to speed up calibration.
  9. Message INITIALIZING appears on the screen.
  10. Message STATUS: RPA ACTIVE appears on the screen.
  11. Switch off engine.

The Tire Pressure Monitoring is in calibrated status.

Re-callibration

When

  • The tire pressure has been changed
  • Tires have been replaced or repaired
  • Wheels have been changed or another wheel set is mounted

How

Without i-Drive

  1. Start the engine but do not drive off.
  2. Keep moving the rocker (2) up or down until a message equivalent to INIT or RESET appears in the display.
  3. Immediately press the button (1) briefly 1 times.
  4. The arrow symbol to the left of the message INIT or the message RESET goes out on the display.
  5. Drive the car to complete the re-callibration.

The procedure will take a maximum of 15 minutes.



With i-Drive

  1. Start the engine but do not drive off.
  2. Press the Menu slector switch in the center console.
  3. Select VEHICLE SETTINGS using the i-Drive button.
  4. To confirm press the i-Drive button.
  5. Select RPA (Run Flat Indicator) using the i-Drive button, confirm it.
  6. Select SET TIRE PRESSURE using the i-Drive button, confirm it.
  7. Select YES using the i-Drive button, confirm it.
  8. Drive the car for a few minutes. Choose a route with as many bends as possible to speed up calibration.
  9. Message INITIALIZING appears on the screen.
  10. Message STATUS: RPA ACTIVE appears on the screen.
  11. Switch off engine.

The Tire Pressure Monitoring is in calibrated status.
