A116 ELV ECU Abrubtion Error

This topic apllies to

  • BMW 3-series E9x

Complaint

  • Faultcode A116 stored in Car Acces System: 
ELV ECU abruption error
Error will not cause a warning light (the light is on in the dash)
Error is currently present
Test conditions have been completed
Short circuit or signal interruption
  • ELV Steering column won't unlock

Repair

  • Use the command to reset ELV ECU counter
  • After the reset the ELV Steering column will unlock and the car can be driven
  • Replace ELV Steering column
  • Check for new software for the ELV ECU
